North Star
Village Mission

Our Village is a caring community that supports members to remain in their homes safely and affordably and encourages social connections promoting healthy, vibrant and meaningful living.

What is North Star Village?

North Star Village is part of a growing national aging-at-home movement. Our goal is to help older adults remain safely and happily in the houses or apartments they love for as long as possible by providing help with those tasks that become more difficult with age while also providing opportunities for social interaction.

What services and programs does North Star Village provide?

Trusted volunteers provide practical help, such as

  • Transportation to the doctor, grocery store, airport, events
  • Household and yard tasks
  • Tech support
  • Friendly visits
  • Short-term pet care.

North Star Village members enjoy a wide variety of activities, including:

Cultural Arts: concerts, plays, museum visits

Literature and Learning: book club, library talks, lectures

Social Events: informal lunches, coffees, special interest groups (exercise, walks, crafts, bridge) and day trips.

North Star Village also provides referrals to recommended reliable professionals for members needing car or home repair, age-friendly remodeling and other services.

Note: We use volunteers ages 18 to seniors. You don’t have to be a member of North Star Village to be a volunteer but you certainly can be. For information about volunteer opportunities and training, call 503-793-8518.
